The tour is all inclusive (except for dinner), so you get vehicle rental, 2 meals a day, hotels, gas, activities, a guide all day….the only things you’d need to bring money for would be personal shopping, dinner, and perhaps evening activities (drinking).
Unless otherwise stated, all prices are listed in USD.
If you would prefer a small motorbike with gears then let me know. The vehicles available vary from year to year. But we normally have a motorcycle or two available. And although “cooler” the people who ride them generally regret it as the scooters are more comfortable and more practical. But the choice is yours.
This is a tough question to answer for legal reasons. I know of MANY people who ride here for years without a license with no problems….but I can’t advocate that here. So yes, bring an international driver’s license (but if you don’t… don’t tell me). For a heavy motorbike, an international motorbike license will definitely be needed.
I suppose you’d need to be at least 18.
Yes, we now offer Van tours that allow you to rest safely between destinations and fun. If you want to go on the 2 wheeled tour with friends and not ride then we might be able to bring you as a passenger.
I don’t want people too tired to enjoy themselves, but I will make some of the days challenging. So we’ll try to keep it between 4-6 hours of actual riding time each day. (but 6 hours of riding time with breaks could easily be 12… so you need to be in OK shape).
Motorcycle gear and rain gear are the two things everyone must have. If you don’t have them then you can buy them here for cheaper than most other places.
You can ask. Depending on many factors I’ll see what I can do.
A landing visa of 60 days is granted on arrival, which is more than long enough for the tour. If you want longer you need to apply at your local Taiwan “Trade Office” (embassy).
I’d convert foreign money to local in Taiwan, at the airport. They give a very fair conversion price as they are government run and not private.
Yes. You will need health insurance in case of an accident/sickness. We used to provide it, but it was very difficult getting money for someone who had already left the country. Be sure to get travel insurance.
Since most people arrive on the same day, but not the same time we can’t rush back and forth to the airport all day long. But Chung-Li (the starting point) is close to the airport (TPE airport). There are one dollar shuttle buses between the airport and my city.
Most nights you’ll share. Sometimes we have solo rooms, but most prefer to stick with the group. More fun in the room with people. For an extra 300 you can have a solo room guaranteed.
Hotels will have Wi-Fi and I can use my own phone as a portable “hotspot”. Getting a SIM card and 3G is cheap though. Swing by a cell phone shop when you first get here and get UNLIMITED internet for a month for about 25 bucks.
If riding by scooter you can put some in the seat and some in your backpack. For the length of the trip that should be enough room. If you have extra luggage you can keep it at the starting hotel….as we start and end the tour at the same hotel.
Taoyuan (Taipei) Airport – It’s code is TPE for Taipei. The airport is in the same province as the tour start.
We are great at tours….not so great at website….stuff. Check out TripAdvisor for recent reviews and photos….we are very active recently : https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g13808652-d8154714-Reviews-M13_s_Taiwan_Tours-Zhongli_District_Taoyuan.html
